The Field at the Antica Cascina Brandimarte

The garden of the Antica Cascina Brandimarte is a source of pride and joy, every day gives us some real culinary emotions.
Emilia lovingly cultivates since May, placing the land by hand, without mechanical gear. Creates furrows, that climb the hill just below the village of Castelluccio, where only a small wooden tag indicates where they were seeded vegetables. The terrain is slightly larger than 80 square meters and gives us vegetables throughout the season, growing in regular cycles thanks to the alternating sowing.
When the vegetables are ready to be harvested, the show is guaranteed.

Huge green bushes are the plants of beans, large chard leaves and then the pumpkins of all kinds.
The salad as a green pillow covers a good portion of the angular field. A small evening buffet in the restaurant Il Fienile offers our guests the chance to taste a genuine food, biological and cheap.
Vegetables are essential at the Restaurant Il Fienile, including the food we find tagliatelle with zucchini flowers and ricotta salata, pureed vegetables and soups, side dishes of beans and red beets, zucchini jam and many other goodies presented by Maria Rita Brandimarte.

“In spring, when the weather is good to first sow the salad and spinach, chard and red carrots, chicory, followed by yellow carrots and parsley. I put the seeds in May and June and beginning to reap the first vegetables. “
How long water for not to dry the vegetables?
 “God is watering. The temperatures are not as high as in other parts of Italy and the rain that water the lentils  is for the garden. In the evening the temperature drops of 10 ° C and the ground cools enough.”

How long you take care for the garden?
“Even 2 -3 hours a day, except when it rains. There is always to do the vegetable even control the growth is important “
