Flora in the Sibillini Mountains National Park

The vegetation that we find in this area is represented mainly by forests of beech, with sporadic presence of other species. The forests that once covered the whole plateau have been destroyed by centuries of grazing, and a civil use of timber. Scholars botanical count about 1,800 plant species, of which at least a hundred plants are rare, and to be protected.

In the mountain plain, which runs from 1000 to 1750 in addition to the beech (Fagus sylvatica), there are maple, rowan, holly. The typical flowers of beech forests are the snowdrops, anemones, peonies called by the castellucciani, wild roses, rose hips rich in vitamin c, which grows almost everywhere. In the plans, in the spring, between late May and late June grow gentian, buttercups, daffodils, poppies, violets and daffodils.
